Calico Red Rocks

I was at a conference in Las Vegas. After a few days, I was desperate to get away from the blinking lights and the 40 foot tall televisions. Fortunately for me, about thirty minutes outside of town is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. I arrived in the morning and hiked around all day, making photographs and taking in the desert scenery. By 6:30 in the evening, I was just hanging out looking for the sun to set and cast warm light on Calico Rocks. In the full-sized print, you can pick out trails in the ravine and rock climbers on the rocks. A wonderful green swath can be seen at the bottom of the ravine telling a story about the seasonal wash that runs during the infrequent rains.
